Conflict occurs in many contexts, from a vehement dispute between two individuals to a cycle of violence between ethnic groups. The School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution is committed to interrupting cycles of violence through rigorous academic programs and innovative work in the new, exciting, and developing field of conflict resolution. Students in the undergraduate program learn to address deep-rooted conflicts and work toward their resolutions at the interpersonal, community/organizational and international level. Excellent preparation for a broad range of careers, such as mediation and negotiation, law and criminal justice, community advocacy and development, human resources, and international aid, development, and diplomacy. The master’s program in public policy leads to a degree for aspiring or experienced professionals who seek career advancement through cutting-edge education and training in policy analysis and development in increasingly technical and global environments. The program prepares students to be reflective practitioners who develop, implement, manage, analyze, evaluate, and effect innovative change in the public and private sectors through a course of study that emphasizes the fundamentals of policy development; the role of technology, analytic assessment, and modeling for policy evaluation; and the implications of international and global perspectives on policy formation. Highly qualified undergraduates in major may apply to the accelerated Master of Public Policy (MPP) program. If accepted students will be able to earn a bachelor’s degree in their major and the Master of Public Policy with a reduced number of overall credits and within a reduced time frame, sometimes within five years.
