The Bachelor of Arts in Art and Visual Technology (AVT) is a liberal arts program that emphasizes breadth of experience in the context of a liberal arts education rather than professional specialization. In addition to completing the university-wide general education requirements, electives, and either a foreign language through the intermediate level or a minor, AVT majors must complete our core foundations experience, breadth and experience, art history and critical theory requirement, and required concentration courses. Students with a concentration in drawing undergo a four-semester sequence, which trains them not only in the materials and techniques of observational drawing, but also to see drawing as the most immediate form of visual thinking. Students are encouraged to explore drawing as a vital language and investigate a variety of media, forms, and traditions, including contemporary drawing theories and practices.
