Admission Requirements
Applicants must also meet the following program requirements. Requirements may be more stringent than the minimum graduate school requirements.
- At least 20 hours in biology, with a course in genetics
- A course in physiology or cell biology
- One year of general chemistry
- A course in biochemistry
- One semester of calculus or statistics
- An academic record of B (3.0) or better during the junior and senior years
- Two letters of recommendation
- Submit a personal statement introducing the applicant and reasons for applying to the program.
If a statistics course was not taken, BIO 509 Statistics for Biologists must be taken as part of the program of study. If a biochemistry course was not previously taken, biochemistry must be taken in the first fall semester of the program. A course in physical chemistry and a microbiology course are highly recommended.
