Admission Requirements
Applicants must also meet the following program requirements. Requirements may be more stringent than the minimum graduate school requirements.
- Current secondary science teaching certification or department permission
- An undergraduate major or minor in physical science (physics, earth science, chemistry, physical science, or integrated science)
- Basic coursework in physics, earth science, chemistry, and astronomy (totaling at least 30 undergraduate hours)
- Mathematics preparation through college algebra and trigonometry is mandatory
- A personal statement of 1-2 pages explaining the purpose for pursuing the MS degree at EMU
- Two letters of recommendation
Admission is restricted to in-service teachers or those intending to enter the teaching profession in the United States.
Students who do not meet these requirements may be granted conditional admission requiring additional undergraduate coursework in science and/or mathematics.
