The Master of Arts in Health Economics provides a basic understanding of economic analysis’s theoretical foundations and tools to gain competence in economic theory and its uses. The program exposes students to various areas of economic study through course work, independent study, and research. Also, this program provides students with quantitative and computer skills that can be used to analyze health organizations and consulting firms that advise health organizations.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must also meet the following program requirements:

  • Satisfy undergraduate course requirements of principles of macroeconomics (ECON 201), principles of microeconomics (ECON 202), economic statistics (ECON 310), calculus (MATH 119 or 120), or equivalents with grades of at least B- in each.

Conditional Admission

Conditional admission may be granted to those who show promise of success in this master’s program but fail to meet one or more of the admission requirements listed above. Conditionally admitted students must overcome specified deficiencies to have their status changed to degree admission. No more than 12 hours of graduate coursework in economics taken by a student on conditional status may be counted toward the degree.
