A degree in Protestant theology is more than just preparation for the rectory or a teaching degree: Studying theology means discovering people, texts and ideas in the past and the present. Students learn to investigate Christian religions with the help of a unique variety of methods.

The postgraduate Master’s degree programme in Theological Studies is aimed at students with professional experience and a completed higher education degree programme who are interested in transferring to the Evangelical Church of Baden’s rectory. The academic programme covers all theological disciplines and reflects previous professional experience with a view to future practice. Graduates acquire the necessary specialised knowledge, have an overview of the interconnections in the individual subjects and are able to apply scientific methods and findings.

Specific requirements for the academic programme are proof of language skills in Hebrew and Ancient Greek (evidenced through, e.g., completion of the basic course in Ancient Greek) as well as passed biblical studies examination for the Old Testament and the New Testament. Language and biblical studies examinations can be retaken during stage 1 studies.
