Students of Geography focus on differentiated natural, economic and social processes particular to given localities. They consider the diverse interrelationships between such processes and their local effects.

Graduates of the degree programme will have obtained practicable specialised and didactic knowledge of geography that enables them, as educators, to design teaching, learning, and educational processes in geography.

They possess both orientational and in-depth knowledge of selected regions at different scale levels, have a sound understanding of physical-geographical, human-geographical and regional-geographical aspects as well as an understanding, from a spatial perspective, of the interrelationships between the Earth system and humans. They also have the ability to assess spatially-effective activities with regard to their ecological, economic, and social compatibility (instruction in sustainable development, guiding principles or sustainability concepts) and, when necessary, to discuss alternative options. They are familiar with the  approaches, categories, and techniques of geographical knowledge production and geographical working methods and are able to independently acquire, process, and effectively verbalise theory-based geographical knowledge. They have differentiated regional competence in European and non-European areas, are familiar with essential findings from research in geographical didactics, and have gained initial reflected experience in skill-oriented planning and implementation of geography instruction.
