Admission Requirements
- Applicants for a Master's degree programme must have successfully completed a first university degree programme at a German or international university that qualifies them to enrol in the desired Master's programme.
- Sports entrance examination (for all applicants who cannot provide proof of a sports degree).
- English Language Proficiency Certificates: As proof of "sufficient basic knowledge of English," we require a certificate at level B2 on the six-level scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In Heidelberg, this level can be achieved by completing two advanced courses at the Central Language Laboratory (ZSL). Enrollment at Heidelberg University is a prerequisite. B2-level language courses are also generally offered at adult education centers (Volkshochschulen). If you have completed a bilingual Abitur (German university entrance qualification), you can have your school confirm your B2 level.
- We recognize the following language certificates as equivalent to level B2: TOEFL, IELTS, CAE
- As proof of “sufficient German language skills”, we require C1 level on the six-level competence scale of the Common European Framework of Reference as well as successful completion of the German language examination for university admission ( DSH ).
