Students of Computer Science focus on the planning, modelling, design and implementation of complex software and hardware systems and processes.
Graduates of the computer science degree programme component in the Master of Education, profile ‘teaching degree Gymnasium’
- have knowledge of practical, theoretical, technical and applied computer science as well as of mathematical methods,
- are able to independently plan, conduct, document and present comprehensive projects of relevance to computer science,
- are aware of the various perspectives and procedures in computer science, ranging from engineering approaches such as analysing and designing via mathematical approaches to knowledge gain such as formalising and proving to social-scientific and empirical methods such as experimenting and simulating,
- can analyse and structure real situations in order to make these accessible to processing with the help of computer science methods,
- are able to transfer topical and process concepts specific to computer science to other fields of application and use the acquired computer science skills in other contexts,
- can adequately present sophisticated facts and situations both orally and in writing, and can independently acquire computer science content,
- are able to analyse, assess and explain computer science facts and situations in various applications and factual connections as well as their societal effects,
- can characterise computer science as a scientific discipline and reflect on the societal function and image of computer science as well as education in computer science,
- are able to recognise the central contribution of computer science education to general knowledge in an information society and therefore have the ability to select suitable topics and special fields and to prepare these for pupils in a didactically reduced manner,
- are aware of the suitable didactic environments that are conducive to studying topics and content and are able to independently learn the use of new tools and to assess these tools for their suitability in Gymnasium level classrooms,
- can assess the longevity and transferability of central concepts in computer science and evaluate current developments and select and prepare these with regard to their relevance for teaching,
- are able to reflect on current development trends in computer science lessons and have a critical open mind with regard to new developments in computer science.
