Work with and for people is at the heart of sports science. Central topics are anchored in the areas of movement, games and sports, as well as school sports, amateur sport, high performance sports and sport for health purposes.
Graduates of the supplementary subject of physical education in the Master of Education will acquire a degree that enables them to transfer to state preparatory service for teaching the subject of physical education at Gymnasium secondary schools. Beyond this, they may enter other fields of activity in sports sciences, in particular those comprising mediating, supervising, and scientific work.
Graduates have skills in sports sciences, its specialised didactics, and in theory and practice of sports.
- They have a basic, structured specialist knowledge that can be expanded upon in the context of movement and sports from a humanities, social, behavioural, or natural sciences perspective. They are able to explain this based on theoretical models and to independently develop it further, as well as to describe, analyse, and assess it in greater depth based on empirical findings
- They have broad skills for specific types of sports and across them that enables them to design teaching and learning processes in a manner that is adequate for the target group.
- Integrating current results of school and lesson research, students blend specialised skills and abilities with concepts of research-based specialised didactics to critically reflect on their own profession-related actions.
