This course provides a stimulating intellectual environment that enables students to build upon the interests and skills students acquired at undergraduate level. It features core modules in both advanced critical theory and research methodologies that will enhance students abilities in academic research, writing, and presentation, enabling them to meet the standards demanded by employers throughout professional life. The structure of this course uses a series of themed module pairs which focus upon one of the following: major authors from historical and contemporary periods; the intertextual relationships between genre, context and form; enhancement of research and interpretive skills.

Students should have a good BA Honours degree, normally with at least half of that Award in English. International students need a score of 7 in the IELTS. Once a written application has been received (including references), the subject team may decide that an applicant requires an interview before a final decision is made on her/his application.
