Public health saves lives. The discipline has always had a major role in preventing health problems, and protecting the health of the nation, and is more relevant now than ever. Increasing government attention is focussed on improving population health, as demonstrated in current policy. Much emphasis is placed on tackling the underlying causes of ill-health, promoting health and well-being, and addressing health inequalities. There are three modules per semester and students will spend two days at University, with the format of delivery fitting in with people who work or have other commitments. Students will learn and be assessed through a variety of activities including discussion, debate, presentations, posters, video clips, quizzes and more.

Students must have studied a minimum of two years post GCSE level. However, it is expected that some applicants will be mature students with work experience, who wish to further their career development. These applicants will be processed through standard procedures, which may involve an interview as part of the process. Please see http://wlv.ac.uk/mature for further information.
