BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Physics aims to develop students’ theoretical understanding of the subjects and apply their skills to real world situations. This course focuses on developing students’ mathematical skills to study and explore key topics within physics including classical mechanics and electromagnetism – at both the classical and quantum level. This course emphasizes on mathematical modelling. Students will study modules including mechanics, mathematical modelling, numerical analysis and differential equations as they progress through their studies. At each stage Matlab is embedded in these modules to equip students with the skills to secure graduate employment in this area. Students will also be given modules in statistical modelling at each stage. There is an emphasis on industry standard software systems and students will learn to use SPSS and R during each year.
