On this BEng (Hons) Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering with Sandwich placement, students will gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the core subject. Students will also gain experience of designing engineering systems that incorporate aspects of the mechanical and electrical/electronic technologies. In addition to experimental work at the University students will use Radar equipment at the DCAE Cosford Royal Air Force base - the same equipment used to train Air Force personnel. The first year of study will cover a range of engineering topics. Students will study Mathematics, and the underlying concepts of Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, and Production Engineering. Students will undertake laboratory work and utilise their new production knowledge to build and test a design. In the second year, students will learn about Telecommunications and Signal Processing, Electronic Design, and Control Systems. Students will also study Engineering Management and learn the role and responsibilities of a professional engineer. In the third year, each student will complete an individual project, acquire specialist Electronics and Communications Systems knowledge, and learn how to convert an idea into a commercial venture.
