Archaeology is the study of past human societies via the material traces they left behind. By investigating artefacts, architecture, biological remains and environmental evidence, archaeologists reveal how people lived, adapted and interacted across time and cultures. To do this, they draw on both traditional tools and emerging technologies like satellite imagery, alongside evolving interpretive and recovery methods.

The Archaeology major offers a practical and theoretical foundation in archaeological methods, from excavation and survey to digital analysis and scientific techniques. You’ll gain hands-on experience in fieldwork, lab work and digital documentation, while developing skills to interpret diverse material culture and evaluate competing theories. Equipped with strong communication, project management and interdisciplinary skills, you’ll be prepared for careers in cultural heritage, museums, research, archives and consulting.
