The Department of Turkish Language and Literature is one of the first departments to accept students of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, which was established under Gazi University. It started education in the 2000-2001 academic year; It had its first graduates in the 2003-2004 academic year. Undergraduate education is provided in the department, including regular and evening education. In addition, the first master's and doctoral program opened within Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Social Sciences Institute was held in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature.

 

Approximately 60 students are accepted to the regular and evening education programs of the department each year. The number of students continuing education in the department is over 500.

 

Department of Turkish language and literature; It consists of 5 main branches of science: Old Turkish Literature, New Turkish Literature, Old Turkish Language, New Turkish Language and Turkish Folk Literature. As of January 2022, the academic staff of the department includes 6 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, 5 Doctoral Lecturers, 1 Lecturer and 2 Research Assistants. Faculty members organize many social activities, as well as theoretical and practical courses, in order to train competent educators and researchers in the field of Turkish language and literature, to improve current educational conditions and to find solutions to the problems of the field.

 

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature has a library within the faculty consisting of approximately 10,000 volumes of books, almost all of which are related to social sciences. A significant part of the books in the library are related to literature, language and history. Students can always use the library to obtain books or to study.

 

In order for department students to graduate from the program, they must complete 240 ECTS, have no failed courses, and have a GPA (General Weighted Grade Point Average) value over 2.00. Department graduates who complete the necessary conditions have the rights and authorities of all Turkish Language and Literature department students throughout Turkey.
