History The Biology Department was established in 2000. It has 15 academic staff (2 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor and 5 Research Assistants). Biology education is carried out for 4 years. Our graduates work as biologists by receiving a Biology PhD degree. Our mission is to lead the transformation of science and technology into the benefit of society by training biologists who can conduct research at national and international levels and who have the capacity to use their knowledge and skills effectively in the face of problems. Achieved Degree Third Level Admission Requirements Candidates must have 1- a Master's degree for the specified fields, 2- the required score from the Graduate Entrance Exam (ALES) and Foreign Language Exams (YDS). Transition to the Next Level --------- Graduation Requirements In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the courses in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS) and successfully defend a thesis (120 ECTS) prepared in a field related to the subject before a selected jury. Graduate Employment Opportunities Graduates have the opportunity to find jobs as biologists in public and private hospital laboratories; those with pedagogical formation have the opportunity to find jobs as teachers in public and private sectors, and also as academicians in institutes and faculties. Assessment and Evaluation There is a requirement to attend classes. This requirement is at least 70%. Those who fulfill the attendance requirement can take the end-of-term exam. Students are subject to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (the scores obtained from measurement tools such as homework, practice homework, etc. can be evaluated as the midterm grade) to the success grade is 40% and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated out of 100 points. The end-of-term average must be at least 76 points. They must pass the doctoral qualification exam (oral and written) conducted by faculty members who are experts in the relevant field. In addition, they must successfully complete the given thesis studies and receive a passing grade from the exam conducted by the thesis defense jury.
