The Department of History, which was established in
2003, admitted its first students in the 2003-2004 academic year with an
additional quota. Department of History; It consists of a total of 7 main
branches of science: Ancient History, Medieval History, General Turkish
History, Modern History, Ottoman Institutions and Civilization, Modern History
and History of the Republic of Turkey. As of 2022, in our department; 2
Professors, 11 Associate Professors, 6 Drs. There are faculty members, 1
lecturer and 3 research assistants.
Our department has a total of over 400 students. In
our department, courses are supported by theoretical explanations as well as
auxiliary materials such as PowerPoint, archive documents, maps and new
publications. Ottoman written language is taught to students at a level where
they can understand both printed and various types of archival documents. Apart
from Ottoman language, Arabic and Russian courses are also among the courses
given to the students of our department.
Under the leadership of our faculty members, faculty
members from different universities from different fields of history give
conferences in our department during the academic year. At these conferences,
our department students are informed about new research and meet other
scientists.
Faculty members of our department also continue the
History Department Master's and History Department Doctorate programs in
coordination at our university's Institute of Social Sciences.
Students graduating from the program;
History teacher in schools affiliated with the
Ministry of National Education and private educational institutions, provided
that the necessary pedagogical formation is provided,
Lecturer or lecturer at universities if they have
master's or doctoral education,
In addition, Turkish Historical Society, Atatürk
Cultural Center, Atatürk Research Center, Turkish Grand National Assembly
Library, General Directorate of Foundations, State Statistics Institute,
General Staff Military History and Strategic Studies Directorate, Prime
Ministry State Archives, etc. They can work as experts and translators in
public institutions with the title of Historian.
