Sociology is a branch of science that examines social changes and human behavior and investigates their causes and consequences theoretically and practically. Sociology tries to understand and interpret social structures, the institutions that form these structures, the principles and rules that determine the past, present and future of these institutions, using scientific methods. There is sociology wherever there are social relations. For this reason, sociology has a close relationship with economics, psychology, law, anthropology and many other branches of science. Based on this idea, in the first years of undergraduate education, students are given courses in these fields that are closely related to sociology. In the following semesters, the focus is on courses related to the sub-branches of sociology and it is aimed to develop students' sociological knowledge and experiences, as well as their interpretation and critical thinking abilities. During the 4-year education period, 16 credits of Philosophy, 16 credits of Psychology and 8 credits of Logic courses are also given, which are required for students to receive formation. Students taking these courses have the opportunity to be appointed as a Philosophy Group Teacher. There are 7 faculty members working in our department, including 3 Doctoral Lecturers and 4 Research Assistants. Our department includes the Department of General Sociology and Methodology, the Department of Institutional Sociology and the Department of Applied Sociology. Our graduates who received the title of Sociologist after four years of education; They can be employed in private and public institutions in many fields such as the Ministry of Justice, Social Services, Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services, Ministry of Agriculture, Child Protection Agency, municipalities, media, human resources, public relations, research institutions, advertising and marketing.
