The Department of Gerontology, which was opened on 25.12.2019 within Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Faculty of Health Sciences, aims to improve the living conditions and conditions of the elderly by examining aging and old age; In this respect, it is a section that covers social, psychological, biological and medical perspectives on aging, as well as philosophical, cultural, historical, theological and ecological perspectives on the phenomenon of old age. Having a 4-year education at the undergraduate level, working with scientific branches such as Geriatrics, Gerontosociology, Gerontopsychology, Gerontopsychiatry in the education curriculum, addressing the phenomenon of aging with a multidisciplinary structure in their own fields and with their own methods, seeking ways to intervene in the aging processes and aiming to develop holistic care specific to the old age, It is an applied discipline.
In the Gerontology department, it is aimed to train Gerontologists who can carefully handle all the problems that arise during old age, conduct scientific research and projects specific to this field, have effective communication skills and ethical values, and have the knowledge and skills to ensure that elderly individuals receive optimal care during this period of their lives.
