Few security issues define our times more than terrorism. Alongside violent extremism, it continues to threaten global security, democratic institutions and community cohesion, increasing the demand for professionals able to coordinate multidisciplinary responses that prevent attacks, build resilience and shape effective policy.

The Counter Terrorism specialisation will equip you with the analytical tools and practical skills to understand, assess and respond to these complex challenges. You’ll explore the drivers, methods and manifestations of terrorism and violent extremism – including radicalisation, disinformation and the online ecosystems that sustain them. Through interdisciplinary inquiry and exposure to global and local case studies, you’ll evaluate whole-of-government approaches, digital disruption strategies and ethical policy responses. Furthermore, you’ll build your expertise in counter terrorism policy and analysis, deepen your understanding of Australia’s role in international systems, and develop your capacity to design evidence-based responses to contemporary threats.
