Our BSc Marketing is an innovative course that will provide you with cutting-edge knowledge of contemporary marketing theory and practice, a strong grounding in established and emerging theories of marketing, and a firm grasp of specialist areas. You will gain knowledge of general business principles, as well as core skills in fundamental business management.

Why choose this course?

  • The BSc Marketing takes an interdisciplinary approach to the subject, offering you an innovative way of learning about topics.
  • You will have the opportunity to interact with academics working at the forefront of marketing, as well as with practitioner guest speakers with real-life insights.
  • This course is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the world’s leading professional marketing association.

What you will learn

The course starts by introducing you to key areas in the study of business. You can then choose to specialise with modules in marketing. As you progress through the course you will have more freedom to explore our wide range of option modules from within both Birkbeck Business School and other schools.

You undertake a business project module towards the end of the course, which is an alternative to a dissertation and requires you to develop a business plan for a new business venture or introduce a new innovation, product, service or process in an established organisation.

How you will learn

We offer a range of teaching methods including lectures, seminars involving case studies, presentations, group discussions, and various types of assessment. You will gain an understanding of the key concepts in business management and marketing and be encouraged to explore the application of these concepts in practice. Our students gain real-world insights through live case study sessions and panels with entrepreneurs and practitioners.

You can study this course full- or part-time.  It  has an evening timetable with classes taking place in the evening.

Foundation Year

If you opt for the Foundation Year route, this will fully prepare you for undergraduate study. It is ideal if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied the relevant subjects, or if you didn't achieve the grades you need for a place on your chosen undergraduate degree.
