This degree program prepares students for work as professional counselors and to meet the comprehensive mental health needs of diverse clients. The program satisfies academic requirements for licensure as a professional counselor and clinical professional counselor in the State of Illinois. The program also meets the academic requirements for national certification in mental health counseling (CCMHC) and for national counselor certification (NCC). Students working toward the MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling are required to complete 60 semester hours of graduate study. In addition, this CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs)-accredited program also meets the academic requirements for national certification in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Other English language Requirements: Minimum scores required on the TOEFL are 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based) along with 4.5 or higher on the essay score of TOEFL.
