The paralegal courses provide a thorough background in legal terminology, procedures and a variety of legal practice areas giving students a solid background with which to begin their career. This program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career as a paralegal or other related positions in the legal field. It focuses on the practical aspects of the law and students learn through hands-on experience both in their traditional classes and through the required internship course. This program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career as a paralegal or other related positions in the legal field and is also an excellent choice for students interested in attending law school. The Paralegal Studies Program offers lifetime career development assistance to its students and graduates. This assistance is available in many forms. The program continuously collects information from graduates to provide updated job placement statistics and salary information. The program maintains an online job board where employers can post available job positions and students and graduates can post their resume to the program?s website for employers to review. Students may participate in an internship while in the program. Career Workshops are held for current students. In addition, students are encouraged to meet personally with a member of the Paralegal Studies Program staff, usually the Assistant Director. In addition to classroom training, internships offer a tremendous opportunity for students to learn and perhaps even secure a full-time position. The program works with many law firms, corporations and governmental agencies throughout the Chicago metropolitan area to offer students a variety of internship opportunities.
