The history program at Roosevelt University is committed to providing students with an awareness of the past that fosters an informed citizenry capable of building and sustaining democratic traditions. The program focuses on history from a local, national, and global perspective taught by a distinguished faculty specializing in European, Latin American, and United States cultural and social history and topics such as gender, labor, urban, film and history of medicine. Courses in history fulfill requirements in the following affiliated programs: African American studies, international studies, social justice studies, Spanish, and women?s and gender studies. Roosevelt University?s history program runs a study abroad exchange program with the University of Sussex in England. Each year two Roosevelt students will take courses at the University of Sussex and students from the University of Sussex taking American studies courses will study at Roosevelt University. The job that students can consider are: advertising executive, analyst, archivist, broadcaster, campaign worker, consultant, congressional aide, editor, foreign service officer, foundation staffer, information specialist, intelligence agent, journalist, legal assistant, lobbyist, personnel manager, public relations staffer, researcher, teacher. More specifically, though, with their degree in history students can be an educator, researcher, communicator or editor, information manager, advocate, or even a businessperson.
