This program focuses on developing a wide range of skills in critical thinking and analysis, storytelling, writing and information-gathering to prepare students for careers in 21st century media. The concentrations are in magazine, visual media, and writing/reporting. All courses in the major must be passed with a grade of C or higher. Students will complete a total of 11 courses, consisting of nine required courses and two electives, for a total of 34 semester hours. The nine required courses focus on best practices and skills, as well as theory, needed for online, broadcast and print journalism. A three-semester-hour internship is part of the requirements for the degree, as is JOUR 392 The Convergence Newsroom. JOUR 392 is a team reporting project in which students' work is presented in multiple platforms.
