This program is a full time, two-year program of concentrated, advanced study in a specialized area of creative pursuit. Students in CCPA's Master of Music program are fully immersed in their chosen area of study through private lessons and coaching, performing ensembles, and seminars, developing professional competence and the capacity to make effective artistic and intellectual judgments. Candidates for a Master of Music degree with a major in performance will study important works from the traditional and modern repertory and will present a well-balanced recital of appropriate difficulty. Performance majors must choose from among the following to fulfill their course requirements: studies in piano literature, studies in song literature, studies in orchestral literature, studies in chamber music literature, seminar in opera, schenkerian analysis, seminar in early music, seminar: classic era, and seminar: romantic era in music academic studies; performance practice 1600-1800, performance practice since 1800, and electroacoustic music II in music history and literature; and advanced orchestration and history of electroacoustic music in music theory and analysis.

Applicants must have an undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale in all or the last half of the undergraduate program. Other English language Requirements: Minimum scores required on the TOEFL are 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based) along with 4.5 or higher on the essay score of TOEFL.
