The PhD programme in Communication and Journalism aims to give training to professionals in aspects of methodology and theory in preparation for research in the field of journalism and communication studies. This training culminates in a doctoral thesis that, in turn, leads on to high-level research in social communication or work in businesses and international organisations. The programme has a long academic and research tradition and aims to further the pursuit of knowledge and innovation within communication studies. The Department of Journalism and Communication Studies, which delivers this PhD programme, is a pioneering academic group in Spain and has been an international benchmark from the beginning.

Depending on the regulations of each home university, especially if there is a mobility agreement with the UAB, students will be able to transfer the credits earned during their stay to their current degree.
