Can a damaged nervous system be regenerated? Why is it so difficult to find effective treatments for neurodegenerative diseases and lesions of the nervous system? How are sensations and perceptions, movements, emotions and coginitive functions generated? Can knowledge of the human brain help to treat or even cure mental illnesses? To be able to answer these and many other questions, there is a need for a deep understanding of the molecular, cellular and anatomical structure of the nervous system, and an understanding of the psychological processes in order to know how some drugs act. This master's degree will cover all of these aspects from a clearly research-oriented perspective. The majority of lecturers are members of the UAB Institute of Neuroscience (INc). Students will have the possibility of participating in the numerous activities organised by the INc, a great place to discover the different research groups and exchange experiences with other master's degree and PhD students. The master's degree forms part of the Network of European Neuroscience Schools (NENS) under the Federation of the European Neuroscience Societies.
