Did you know that advances in the acquisition of biomolecular and computer science macrodata have been the two driving forces behind the biomedical and biotechnological revolution of this century? If you are intrigued by giving meaning to this avalanche of biomolecular data, the master's degree in Bioinformatics at the UAB is for you! Bioinformatics represents an interdisciplinary, highly dynamic and professionally promising research field. This international master's degree, offered fully in English, has been awarded a seal of excellence by the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education. The duration of the master's degree is one academic year. The first semester begins with 2 compulsory modules in which you will learn the basics in bioinformatics, followed by an optional specialisation module. You will be able to use a computer laboratory with your own personal computer which you will have access to during all lecturing hours. In the second semester you will be able to put into practice the skills you have acquired, and work on your final project. The external work placement module, supervised by one of the master's degree lecturers, can be done in any part of the world. All students enrolled are expected to be highly motivated and dedicate themselves fully to the programme.

Admission Requirements

Those interested in enrolling in the master's degree must have a university degree, preferably in Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biomedicine or other similar areas related to sciences and health sciences. Graduates in engineering and architecture fields will also be admitted.

It is recommended you have a Level B2 of English or equivalent. If you do not provide an official language certificate you will be interviewed in English by the admissions committee during the selection process.
