The master's degree covers the problematics found in the teaching-learning of French, foreign languages, language contact, processes of language mediation and the optimisation of exolingual communication, areas in which the Department of French and Romance Languages of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona holds a high reputation, both nationally and internationally. The training received will enable you to work as a professional in language mediation for French as a Foreign Language, FLE, a field whose central part is based largely, but not solely on education and which requires a mastery of the instrumental language as well as solid cultural references. These references go beyond the borders of continental France and encompass the entire area known as the Francophonie, covering all continents and with a particular presence in several African countries, in which French is a co-official language. In terms of research, the master's degree aims to train future PhD students in French language and culture who can go on to complete their training with the UAB PhD in Romance Languages and Cultures, or with other similar university programmes around the world.
