With the establishment of Gümüşhane University, Institute of Science and Technology on 31.05.2008, subject to the Higher Education Law No. 2547, the Department of Physics has been included within the Institute and has started to accept students as of the 2020-2021 Fall Semester.
Degree Earned
When the program is successfully completed and program qualifications are met, a Master's degree in physical science is obtained.
Admission Conditions
A student who wants to enroll in a master's program must have completed the processes and passed the exams within the framework of the academic and legal legislation of the university and determined by YÖK. Student admission to the program and application conditions are published on the Gümüşhane University Institute of Science and Technology website before the start of the academic term (Gümüşhane University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations).
Candidates who will apply for a master's degree must first have a 1st Undergraduate Diploma and 2nd have a valid minimum score from the Graduate Entrance Exam (ALES).
Transition to the Upper Level
Graduates who have successfully completed the master's program can apply for doctoral programs both in their own field and in multi-disciplinary fields, provided that they receive a valid score from the ALES exam and provide English language proficiency.
Graduation Requirements
In order to obtain a master's degree in the Department of Physics, it is necessary to take 21 credits (equivalent to 120 ECTS) courses, pass them with at least a CB degree, obtain a weighted average of at least 2.5 out of 4.0, and be successful in preparing a master's thesis and presenting it in front of the jury.
Graduate Employment Opportunities
Students who receive a Master's degree in Physics can work as academicians, teachers, programmers, health physicists, health physicists and many other fields.

They are subject to midterm and final exams for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is mandatory to get at least 50 points from the final exam. Students who receive one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB or CB from a course are considered to have succeeded that course.
