Mechanical Engineering Department of Gumushane University is one of the five departments which were founded with the Law No of 3837 and article of 19 at 03.07.1992 within the structure of Karadeniz Technical University and also existed in the Law of Gumushane Faculty of Engineering. However, the first academic staff intake was performed in 2009 within University of Gumushane that was established with the Law No of 5765 dated 22.08.2008. The Department started the education activities at undergraduate level in 2009-2010 academic years as first and second education and at postgraduate level as from the academic year of 2010-2011.

Gumushane University Mechanical Engineering Department continues education activities with 2 professor,  7 assistant professors, 3 lecturers and 3 research assistant doctors.  Mechanical Engineering Department continue education and training  with formal education consisting of 1., 2., 3. and 4. class.

Our mission is to train engineers who use every opportunity to reach  information, assess the information obtained, have analysis and application skills, apply the knowledge of mathematics and science to Mechanical Engineering problems, take an active role in group works, have an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility and use information for the benefits of the society, have engineering design skills, have high self-confidence, make decisions, have the power of independent and scientific thought, respect for human rights, have been educated mentally and spiritually well-balanced, and are creative, productive and healthy.

Our vision is to become a pioneering section which offers mechanical engineering education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the international standards, produces knowledge through researches and serves to society and humanity by publishing them, contributes to regional and national developments by establishing close cooperation with industry and government agencies, works for the benefit of the society and humanity in the universal criteria and converts the results of their research into technology.

Part laboratory, the optimal conditions for enhancing students' practical skills and test devices designed with the benefit of the students achieved the maximum extent.

EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

       The basis of the department of education plans, Applied Mechanics, Thermal Sciences and Energy Technology, Material Science and Manufacturing Technology, as well as the basic fields, in accordance with technological and scientific developments in computer-controlled heat and mechanical systems design and implementation of applications including high-tech developments such as an open education is understanding.

    Scientific research projects developed by staff of the Department of Mechanical Engineering are supported by university research funding, the State Planning Organization.
