History: The establishment of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and opening the research areas of Political and Social Sciences, Jurisprudence, Administrative Sciences and Urbanization and Environmental Problems depending on the department was realized with the Senate decision dated 10.02.2009 and numbered 4 of Gümüşhane University and the approval of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 01.07.2009.

Degree Earned: Graduates are awarded a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Public Administration.

Admission Requirements: To be successful in the TYT and AYT exam conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Admission conditions for foreign students are announced on the university's website at the beginning of each academic year.

Transition to the Upper Level: Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in graduate (master's and doctoral) programs.

Graduation Requirements: Students who successfully complete all of the courses in the program worth a total of 240 ECTS and achieve a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 are eligible to graduate. In addition to successfully completing the courses, a graduation work is essential for graduation.

Employment Opportunities: Our graduates have employment opportunities in many fields in the public and private sectors. Graduates of the department can work in positions such as district governor, administrative judge, inspector, auditor,  public accountant in the public sector, as well as in various fields such as managers and inspectors in the private sector. Graduates of the department have the opportunity to work in institutions such as the Prime Ministry, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, the Turkish Statistical Institute, the Capital Markets Board and the Central Bank.

Assessment and Evaluation: Students are subjected to midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade is 40% and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is obligatory to get at least 45 points from the all exam. Students who get one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a course are considered successful in that course. In addition, students with a grade point average of at least 2.00 for a semester are considered successful in the courses they received with a DC letter grade. At the end of each semester, students can take the make-up exam for all the courses they failed in that semester.
