Mechanical Engineering Department of Gumushane University is one of five departments which were founded with the Law No. of 3837 and article of 19 at 03.07.1992 depending on Karadeniz Technical University and also in Law of Gumushane Faculty of Engineering. However, the first academic staff intake was performed in 2009 within Gumushane University that was established with the No. 98 of 5765 added to the Annex on 22.08.2008 and the Department was connected to Engineering Faculty of Gumushane University after this date. The Department has started the education activities at the undergraduate level as first and second education in 2009-2010 educational years. Mechanical Engineering Department took part in, Science and Technology Institute in Gumushane University was established in Law No. 2547 of the Higher Education on 31.05.2008, from the academic year of 2010-2011 and has begun the education activities at postgraduate level.

Qualification Awarded

The students who have graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering are awarded with a Master of Science degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

Admission Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in acceptable fields. Sufficient score (at least 70 out of 100) from the National Academic Staff & Graduate Education Exam (ALES).

Higher Grade Transition

The candidates who have completed their undergraduate degree succesfully, may continue graduate programs.

Graduation Requirements

To be able to secure the Master of science degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, the students are required to have passed a total of 21 credits (120 ECTS) courses in the curriculum with a grade of at least CC, have achieved a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and prepared a master thesis, submitted and successfully defended with a passing grade.

  1. Measurement and evaluation methods; The types of exams and their contribution to the course success grade are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) on these issues.
  2. Different methods such as homework, project, practice, midterm and final exam are used in assessment and evaluation.
  3. In the evaluation of student success, systems based on letters or grades are used.
  4. The thesis written about the field must be found successful by the thesis jury to be determined by the related institute.
