The Department of Occupational Health and Safety became a part of the Graduate School with the establishment of Gümüşhane University's Institute of Natural Sciences in accordance with Law No. 2547 on May 31, 2008. It has been in operation since the 2016-2017 Academic Year.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission, students must obtain a valid score from the ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
Transition to Higher Levels
Candidates who successfully complete their master's degree can enroll in doctoral programs if they obtain a valid score in the ALES exam and achieve a valid score in any foreign language exam recognized by the Higher Education Council (YÖK).
Graduation Requirements
To obtain a master's degree in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, students must complete a total of 21 credits (equivalent to 120 ECTS), pass with at least a CB grade average, achieve a minimum weighted GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, prepare a master's thesis, and successfully defend it before a jury.
Assessment and Evaluation
Students are subject to midterm exams and end-of-semester exams for each course. The final grade is determined with a 40% contribution from the midterm exam and a 60% contribution from the end-of-semester exam. All exams are evaluated on a 100-point scale. It is mandatory to score a minimum of 50 points in the end-of-semester exam. Students who receive AA, BA, BB, or CB letter grades in a course are considered to have passed that course.
