Optional modules provide considerable flexibility to tailor your studies at every stage.
At Bangor University you will have the opportunity to not only study and enjoy one of the most remarkable Celtic literatures in the world, but there will also be opportunities to pursue more practical modules that will prepare you for a successful career working bilingually.
Explore rich and diverse literary texts from the tales of the Mabinogion to the dynamic literature of contemporary Wales. You can learn about the theoretical and historical aspects of theatre and media, such as the history of Welsh drama, the history of European drama, the tradition of adapting for the stage, studying Welsh screen works and the tradition of broadcasting for the radio as a medium.
You can learn about writing for theatre, screen, digital media and other platforms. There is also a cross-section of modules available which give students the opportunity to cultivate and develop practical skills in the fields, such as screenwriting skills (for television and for the stage), performance and directing skills as well as production skills for the stage, the television and the radio.
Some of our staff are practising professionals and consultants, bringing their first-hand experiences to the classroom. You will foster your creative talents in the company of some of Wales’s leading creative practitioners and some of the most prominent writers and poets in contemporary Wales. Garnering international acclaim, they have won awards including Book of the Year, and the highest prizes – Prose Medals, Drama Medals, Chairs and Crowns at the Urdd Eisteddfod and National Eisteddfod.
