On this Film and Drama degree, you can explore your passion for performing arts, visual communication and live artistic expression.

Develop your critical and theoretical understanding of film and drama whilst improving your professional practice. Learn skills in filmmaking, improve your acting skills and rehears and perform with fellow drama students whilst learning about the cultural and historical impact of film and drama. You will learn about the film industry, film history and theory, as well as filmmaking techniques. You can also explore digital media, television, radio, music videos, podcasting and social media.

We cover all forms of drama from stage and screen to radio and podcast. We look at diverse practices, including arts management, health and wellbeing and creativity in education. Our Drama staff are all practising professionals with experience in actor’s training, directing, production and new writing with additional expertise in Musical Theatre, Opera and Community Theatre.

You’ll join a friendly, dynamic and creative community on this Film and Drama degree. There are lots of opportunities to gain practical experience helping organising screenings, film festivals and special events at Pontio or via Bangor Film Society. You can also collaborate on different projects, such as short films, with students who are film makers, actors, composers and writers.

You'll learn by doing with access to industry-standard digital media equipment and creative spaces that bring ideas to life. Our Arts and Innovation centre, Pontio, hosts our annual media showcase and its cinema runs a range of industry events by the likes of the British Film Institute and Film Wales Network.

96+
Offers are tariff based, 96 - 128 tariff points from a Level 3 qualification* e.g.:

  • A Levels: General Studies and Key Skills not normally accepted.
  • BTEC National Extended Diploma: MMM - DDM
  • Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma: MMM- DDM
  • City & Guilds Advanced Technical Extended Diploma (1080): considered on a case-by-case basis
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma: accepted
  • Access to Higher Education: pass required
  • Welsh Baccalaureate: We will accept this qualification in conjunction with other level 3 qualifications
  • T Levels: T Levels in a relevant subject considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Extended Project Qualification: Points can include a relevant Extended Project (EPQ) but must include a minimum 2 full A-levels, or equivalent.

We are happy to accept combinations of the qualifications listed above, as well as alternative Level 3 qualifications such as City & Guilds, Access and Cambridge Technical Diplomas.

We also welcome applications from mature learners.
