There has never been a better time to study geography. With global challenges like increasing population, resource depletion, anthropogenic climate change, the increase in extreme weather events, natural hazards, and disasters t. Understanding the complex relationships between the Earth, its environment and inhabitants is vital to developing the answers to these challenges.
On this BSc (Hons) Geography, you’ll explore the physical processes that shape the Earth, its landscapes and resources. At the same time, you’ll consider the social, cultural and economic processes that influence people and places, and the human environment relationships.
Our location, the dramatic north Wales coastline, Menai Strait, and mountains of Eryri, provides a rich context to your geographical studies. We take full advantage of its diverse landscapes for fieldwork, for example, to study the glaciated landscapes of Yr Wyddfa (Mt. Snowdon: EN) and ancient geology, with rocks over 100 million years old.
At Bangor, you don’t have to study human or physical geography exclusively. Our wide range of specialist modules give you flexibility to explore the topics that interest you most, across the discipline. Current options range from geohazards to soil science or from space and power to sustainable communities.
Our strong employer links include Eryri National Park Authority, Natural Resources Wales, UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water, the Environment Agency and Natural England. Some employers contribute guest lectures, whilst many offer opportunities for work placements.
Our programme is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG). This Aaccreditation by the RGS-IBG recognises that our programme is aligned with the QAA Subject Benchmark Statement for Geography, and our good practice in teaching and learning. GCSE: Grade C/4 in Mathematics and English Language or Welsh, if not demonstrated by the Level 3 qualification/s.

We also welcome applications from mature learners.
International Candidates: International Candidates: school leaving qualifications that are equivalent to A levels/Level 3 and/or college diplomas are accepted from countries worldwide (subject to minimum English Language requirements). More information can be found on our International pages.
