The additional fourth year of this integrated undergraduate master’s in Geography allows you to graduate with a master’s-level qualification. A focus on research and the inclusion of a relevant work placement is designed to boost your future employability.
On this RGS-IBG accredited MGeog Geography, you will follow either the BA or BSc pathway in your first two years of study follow the curriculum of the corresponding Bachelor’s degree, with the same flexibility to choose topics across human, social, physical, economic and environmental geography.
In the third year, you’ll develop research skills ready to tackle your own research project, in addition to the same optional specialist modules in either the human or physical side of the discipline.
You’ll be taught by staff whose interdisciplinary research expertise spans from glacial and riverine environments to food geographies and rewilding. They’ll share insight into how the rivers, coastline, mountains, valleys and landscapes of north Wales and other parts of the world were formed. You’ll understand how humans have impacted their surroundings through, for example, housing, farming, industry and tourism.
Our strong employer links include Eryri National Park Authority, Natural Resources Wales, UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water, the Environment Agency and Natural England. Some employers contribute guest lectures, whilst many offer opportunities for work placements.
Our programme is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG). This accreditation recognises that our programme is aligned with the QAA Subject Benchmark Statement for Geography, and our good practice in teaching and learning. Accreditation supports the fact that we are delivering the knowledge, skills and other attributes expected of high-quality geography graduates.

GCSE: Grade C/4 in Mathematics and English Language or Welsh, if not demonstrated by the Level 3 qualification/s.

International Candidates: International Candidates: school leaving qualifications that are equivalent to A levels/Level 3 and/or college diplomas are accepted from countries worldwide (subject to minimum English Language requirements). More information can be found on our International pages.

- International Baccalaureate Diploma (including grade H5 or above in Geography at the Higher Level)

- BTEC National Extended Diploma in Countryside Management or Applied Science**: DMM-DDD
- Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Applied Science or Laboratory Skills**: DMM-DDD
