The broad multidisciplinary curriculum of this MEng Engineering prepares you to be a well-rounded professional engineer at the forefront of high-tech industry, in both technical and managerial roles.

Combining knowledge across traditional and modern engineering, electronic engineering and computer science, you’ll be able to create innovative solutions appropriate to a wide range of careers. These range from mechatronics, robotics, data science, low carbon energy, automotive and aerospace engineering to materials science and mechanical engineering.

With opportunities to collaborate on projects, you'll join a research-led teaching environment with academics at the forefront of digital signal processing and 5G technology, future energy systems and materials technologies.

Our investigations into low carbon energy include various thermodynamics projects, for example, reducing emissions and pumping loss in power station plumbing, and generating nuclear-assisted biofuels by growing microalgae. One innovative energy efficiency project involves trying to create synthetic shark skin to reduce the amount of drag on boats.

We offer three undergraduate degree courses in Engineering, leading to a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Master of Engineering (MEng). This four-year integratged MEng Engineering, a three-year BEng (Hons) Engineering, and four-year BEng (Hons) Engineering (with Foundation Year).

This MEng Engineering adopts a hands-on approach to teaching with extensive practical experience and laboratory work, alongside theoretical knowledge. You’ll manufacture components and machines using, gaining experience with emerging technologies such as additive layer manufacture. You’ll also help set up and operate a Universal Robots robotic arm.

In the third and fourth year, you’ll be able to tailor your studies to match your interests and ambitions. Optional modules allow you to specialise in broadband comms systems and mobile communications, for example, or enterprise design and modelling.
