On this BSc (Hons) Electronic Engineering, you’ll gain a thorough grounding in all the latest techniques in analogue and digital electronics. At the same time, you’ll be developing professional and academic skills, including best practice project management and intensive preparation in maths and science for electronics.
Previously, for example, first year students have built an audio graphic equalizer and, in the second year, an FM transmitter or metal detector. You can also undertake your final project in collaboration with industry or our researchers.
We offer four undergraduate degree courses in Electronic Engineering, leading to a BSc (Bachelor of Science), a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Master of Engineering (MEng). This three-year BSc (Hons) Electronic Engineering, the three-year BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering, a four-year BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering (with Foundation Year), and a four-year integrated MEng Electronic Engineering.
While content is similar to the BEng, this BSc course has been specifically designed to accommodate anyone without the usual qualifications in mathematics and physics, or who may not meet the IET progression requirements to graduate with a BEng. If you feel you have the potential and motivation to become a competent, professional engineer, it enables you to pursue your interest in electronics and electronic systems to degree level. The BSc may also be more appealing to international students from countries which do not recognise the BEng qualification.
The combination of technical, analytical and practical skills you’ll gain on this degree will be in high demand across lots of different sectors. On graduation, you’ll be prepared to take on technical and managerial roles at the forefront of the many high-tech industries which rely on products and systems that use electronic technology. These range from automotive and aerospace to telecommunications, television, healthcare, and construction, to name just a few.

Admission Requirements
Offers are tariff based, 104 -120 tariff points from a Level 3 qualification e.g.:
- A-levels: General Studies and Key Skills not normally accepted.
- BTEC National Extended Diploma: DMM-DDM
- Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma: DMM-DDM
- City & Guilds Advanced Technical Extended Diploma (1080): case-by-case
- International Baccalaureate Diploma is accepted
- Welsh Baccalaureate is accepted
- Access to Higher Education: case-by-case
- T-levels: considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Extended Project Qualification: Points can include a relevant Extended Project (EPQ) but must include a minimum 2 full A-levels, or equivalent.
We are happy to accept combinations of the qualifications listed above, as well as alternative Level 3 qualifications such as City & Guilds, Access and Cambridge Technical Diplomas.
