Develop analytical, practical, technical and creative skills to inform, entertain and shape opinions, ideas and attitudes of those around you on this Media and Creative Writing degree.

At Bangor University, our goal is to help you find your voice, critically and creatively, as you study and practise a wide range of genres, styles and forms of writing and media. Studying Media and Creative Writing in combination, you’ll consider creative production and practice as a reader, writer, producer, consumer and critic.

You'll learn by doing with access to industry-standard digital media equipment and creative spaces that bring ideas to life. Our Arts and Innovation centre, Pontio, hosts our annual media showcase and its cinema runs a range of industry events by the likes of the British Film Institute and Film Wales Network.

The course will develop your skills in writing novels, short fiction, creative non-fiction, flash fiction, hybrid forms, and poetry. You will engage in technologies and techniques used in digital media, television, radio, film and emerging forms of media. You’ll be mentored by published writers and poets, film and media practitioners, and academic researchers who are experts in their field.

The expertise of our staff spans advertising, media regulation, privacy, political communication, journalism, professional writing, comics, visual culture, gender and the media, global media, social networks, and documentary.

We enjoy strong links with local media production companies, including BBC Wales and S4C and independent TV companies - Rondo Media, Cwmni Da, Darlun, Slam Media, and Aria Film Studios. We have close connections with BAFTA Cymru - some of our graduates have gone on to win top awards. This presents opportunities to gain practical experience, forging links with potential future employers in the media and creative industries, as well attending industry talks and workshops.
