The Anthropology program study at Universitas Brawijaya is a leading undergraduate program study that focuses on the study of social relations, humanities, and Indonesian culture. We are one of the top five undergraduate anthropology programs in Indonesia (EduRank, 2023). Established in 2011, the program has grown rapidly, is internationally accredited by AQAS in 2023, and has numerous research findings published nationally and internationally. The majority of our teaching staff hold doctoral degrees from prestigious universities around the world, including the United States, the Netherlands, Norway, and Taiwan. Their expertise shapes the curriculum at UB Anthropology, focusing on areas such as East Java and Eastern Indonesian cultures, arts and tourism, food studies, political ecology, digital ethnography, and ethno-photo/videography. In recent years, we have hosted lectures by guest lecturers, including professional practitioners and professors from abroad. UB Anthropology has collaborated with universities and international institutions for educational, research, and community service purposes, such as the University of California, University of Malaya, Universiti Putra Malaysia, University Sarawak Malaysia, and USAID. Philosophically, our curriculum aims to produce graduates with critical, constructive and humanistic qualities. Our alumni have dispersed into various fields, including industry (market research/CSR), education, research, and NGO activism.
