The  Study Programme of Chinese Literature , Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Brawijaya was established on July 15, 2010. The establishment of Chinese Literature was driven by the desire to be actively involved in global communication and cooperation, especially with China, which is currently at its peak of development in the social, political, cultural, economic and industrial fields.

When it was first opened, the Chinese Literature Study Program FCS UB had attracted prospective students. Alumni of the Chinese Literature Study Program not only master spoken and written Mandarin, but also learn Chinese culture which also provides added value to bridge the relationship between the two countries in various fields.

In order to develop its international standard and quality, the Chinese Language and Cultural Studies Study Program has collaborated with some universities in China, including Guangxi Normal University, Changzhou Institute of Technology, Sichuan International Studies University, and Tianjin Foreign Studies University. The forms of collaboration are student exchange, guest lecturer and native lecturer exchanges, short courses (non-degree training), and student internships. In addition, the study program also collaborates with the Confucius Institute. Annually, the study program has at least two native lecturers from Tianjin Foreign Studies University and Guangxi Normal University. The study program also collaborates with non-university institutions, such as the Sands Group company, to provide scholarships for students to study in China for one year and to provide work in the company after graduation.

In addition to the regular classes, the study program also offers an international class, which gives students the opportunity and experience to study abroad in China.
