Chemical engineering

Programme overview

Main Subject

Engineering - Chemical

Degree

MA

Study Level

Masters

Study Mode

On Campus

The objective of the specialty of Chemical Engineering is to ensure the mastery of the different techniques of Process Engineering (absorption, extraction and mixing), the concepts of sizing and the design of equipment. The student will acquire knowledge concerning the main models of homogeneous reactors and notions on the operation of bioreactors and mastery of the operating principles of certain energy technologies, namely: thermal machines, compressors, pumps, etc. This training will also accomplish the students knowledge and teach them new concepts such as heat and material transfer and the methods of calculating this equipment. Through this training, the students will learn to design, size and simulate certain industrial processes related to chemical engineering using a computer code in the form of a simulator. In addition to this, they can  master the experimental methods and techniques which make it possible to characterize matter and study its structure, in particular the techniques and tools for which technological progress has recently appeared. Having in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of membrane techniques and familiarizing them with the latest technological advances in membranes, is part of the objectives too. Through this training, the students will be able to explain the operation of industrial furnaces and boilers, establish an energy balance of a furnace or a boiler, determine the thermal efficiency of the equipment, Indicate the positions loss of energy in this equipment and the methods of optimizing the heat balance. The last objective is to develop students' awareness of ethical principles, introduce them to the rules that govern life at the university (their rights and obligations vis-à-vis the university community) and in the world of work. Also, make them aware of the respect and valuation of intellectual property and the risks of moral evils such as corruption and how to fight them.
