The department was established since the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry in 1964 under the name of the Department of Animal Wealth and students were accepted to grant a master's degree in 1973-1974.

Excellence and advancement in academic education, leadership in community service, and quality in scientific research in the fields of animal production, striving for internationalism.

Department's mission:

Contributing to achieving sustainable development by preparing a specialized and qualified agricultural engineer to work in the fields of animal production, committed to professional ethics, highly efficient in terms of science and applied skills, and able to meet the needs of the local, regional and global labor market and serve the community at a competitive level by developing scientific research skills and continuous self-education.

Objectives of the department:

1 _ Preparing advanced scientific cadres in the specializations of the department. (Nutrition, physiology, management and animal husbandry)

2 _ Providing agricultural institutions with master's degree holders with excellent experience.

3 _- Developing scientific research skills to meet the needs of society and confront environmental challenges.

4 - Improving production and economic efficiency in the animal production sector and contributing to enhancing food security and providing innovative solutions in the sector

5 - Enhancing job opportunities and professional advancement in the fields of animal production

6 - Enhancing the ability of graduates to research, analyze and design research scientifically

7 - Enhancing communication skills, teamwork, project management and calculating economic feasibility
