The Scientific Committee in the Department of History seeks to establish modern scientific foundations and solid scientific programs for graduate students in Islamic history and modern and contemporary history, whether the target group of the program is master's or doctoral students and in the two fields of specialization. According to the vision, goals and path set by the Scientific Committee :

Vision, Mission, Goals Department Vision: Parties Horizon of scientific research - academic records, references Horizon of scientific cooperation with scientific diversity, and emphasis on the human choice of high quality and the basis in acquiring knowledge, and striving to develop academic programs in the humanities to keep pace with tourism and scientific, required sufficient period of time between the average to achieve comprehensive development to enable, enhance integrated education to prepare educational teachers with full experience to acquire knowledge yourself

Department Mission: - Providing scientific comparison in various sectors, and cooperation in the field of scientific conferences and studies, and holding conferences and seminars that cover important and different topics

Directorate of bridges of communication and cooperation between the region and institutions, universities and scientific research centers locally, Arab and internationally

Preparing postgraduate certificates (Masters - Doctorate) with a high level of scientific and cognitive commitments by following a solid and strict objective necessity in preparing beginners and studies .

Department Goal:  Creating a generation fit for the era between the average and achieving comprehensive development to enable Providing integrated education to prepare educational teachers with full experience to acquire self-knowledge.

This program includes six main criteria

 

First Criterion: Knowledge, Emotional and Skills

The institution aims to provide sufficient knowledge and skills necessary to practice the teaching profession. It is also necessary to develop positive attitudes towards the profession to help achieve effective learning among student teachers. Evaluations are conducted to ensure that those qualified meet the approved criteria

This criterion includes several sub-indicators

The cognitive content of the specialization subject for those qualified to practice the teaching profession

The skill aspect for students to practice the teaching profession

Educating those qualified about the ethics of the teaching profession: It focuses on

 Professional ethics

 Academic integrity

 Encouraging publication in reputable journals

Good teacher skills .

 Proficient in using modern technology

 Innovative and cooperative

 Familiarity with the latest teaching methods and learning theories

 Use of feedback

 Ability to persuade

 Encourage students

 Correct language and clear pronunciation

 Use of classroom interaction patterns

 

Second Criterion: Evaluation

The department has a solid evaluation system and examinations that can collect data about its students regarding their degree of academic qualification to practice the profession and their performance after graduation, which helps provide important historical information .

Criterion Four: Diversity

This is done by seeking knowledge and skills and forming positive attitudes that help students in professional integration

Several indicators branch out from this criterion, which are

Design, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum and experiences

 Vocabulary and description of the detailed scientific material in the form of lectures

 Questionnaires to evaluate the curriculum and experiences

Work experiences with diverse members .

Through placement and participation with others and scientific and research cooperation .

Work experiences with diverse candidates .

This happens through cooperation with school teachers and students and benefiting from the opinions and suggestions of the other party to achieve effective diversity in serving the department and the educational and general community

Ways of dealing with diverse students in schools

There are three types of students that graduates of the History Department must deal with

 Distinguished students

 Regular (normal) students

 Students with special needs

 

Fifth Criterion: Faculty members' qualifications

Faculty members have sufficient academic qualifications that make them good role models for professional practices and have sufficient ability and experience in the field of teaching. They have the ability to evaluate their students effectively enough, and

cooperate with colleagues in a spirit of camaraderie in their specializations and other specializations .

Several indicators branch out from it, which are

 

Qualified faculty members

Every academic year, a table is printed with the numbers and names of instructors, along with titles, certificates, general and specific specializations, gender, and official email. It is signed by the head of the department, approved by the dean, and submitted as an official document for evaluating the department .

Representing the best professional practices in teaching .

 Using good leadership and classroom management styles :

We can say that there is no specific teaching style that is the best, but rather there must be a balance between styles that suit the nature of the subject, the characteristics of the students, and the available capabilities. Teaching styles are not separate or precisely defined, they overlap with each other, whatever their classifications are, they are an attempt to express the predominance or dominance of teaching methods, behavioral characteristics, or specific personal qualities over the teacher's performance.  The following are some of the behaviors that are desired to be implemented inside and outside the classroom

It consolidates the learner's understanding and conveys information to him with ease and is considered a means of conveying information quickly to the learner

An important supporter and companion for every educational, training or behavioral movement that works to achieve communication between the sender and the receiver, as it builds a basic relationship between what the sender says and the aspects of his apparent personality 

represented in his appearance, movements, stances and looks, and it is one of the means of persuasion

It facilitates communication with students and makes everyone participate and attracts attention and ends the intellectual distraction of students. Using body language is an embodiment of the learner's educational lesson competencies and reaching the consolidation of the educational lesson in any field

 

 Ways to attract students' attention

A successful teacher is the one who captures the attention of his students throughout the class period, as he is convinced that there is no learning without attention, knowing that each teacher can develop these behaviors.

Admission Requirements

For Iraqi students, the controls include, Graduation rate of the applicant for the master's degree or its equivalent on the general admission channel and for employees and non-employees is not less than (65%) and the exception of the first quarter for medical and engineering specialties and the age of the applicant for master's studies is less than 45 years  , and the age requirement for applicants on the private alimony channel is excluded. the application for postgraduate studies for all universities electronically and through the website (adm.rdd.edu.iq). The applicant must pass the National Standardized English Test, the Arabic Language Test and the Computer Test. The blind are exempted from the computer test and the National English Language Exam. An interview is conducted after the competitive exam to determine the candidate's eligibility for admission to studies to ensure his physical, mental and psychological integrity by a specialized committee. As for the required documents, they are a graduation document and a letter of no objection from the department or the entity to which the employee applying for studies is affiliated with all personal and identification documents. for other information please visit the website (pgadmission.uomosul.edu.iq). Note that the tuition fees are for one academic year. The applicant must have a bachelor's degree  in history.

for foreign nationalities there are three types of application Study in Iraq, first Free with an average grade  65 %  as minimum and age not exceed  40   years ,  second Semi free, with average grade of  60 % (850 USD per year of study (the study includes 2 years)  and No age limits. third :On expense: (1660 USD per years of study (the study includes 2 years  )). No age   and grade limits. 

For Iraqi Applicants

The applicant's GPA for the master’s degree through the public admission channel must not be less than 65%.

If the applicant is an employee, they must have at least two years of actual work experience after obtaining a bachelor's 

degree, along with a letter of no objection from their current employer.

The applicant must have either an IELTS or TOEFL certificate, or pass the national English proficiency test (with at least 50%), the national Arabic language proficiency test (with at least 50%), and the national computer skills test (with at least 50%).

Participation in and passing of the competitive entrance exam is required.

An interview will be conducted to determine the candidate's eligibility for admission to the master’s program, to ensure their physical, mental, and psychological fitness by a specialized committee.

For Non-Iraqi Applicants 

Academic documents must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant's country and the Iraqi embassy or cultural attaché in that country.

A valid passport for a period of at least two years from the date of initial admission.

A research plan (research proposal).

Two letters of recommendation from professors holding the title of Professor in the relevant field.

A criminal record clearance certificate and a health certificate issued by the country of origin.
