Admission Requirements
For the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) stream under the "M.Phil.-Ph.D. Programmes", the applicant shall have:
- a master's degree from a recognized university; or
- graduated from a recognized university and obtained a bachelor's degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class; or
- graduated from an honours programme of a recognized university with a bachelor's degree, normally achieving an average grade of not lower than "B"; or
- completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an honours degree.
In addition to the general requirements of the Graduate School,
MPhil applicants should submit:
- a written statement explaining the purpose of the application;
- a research proposal in English (should not exceed 5 single-spaced type-written pages);
- two samples of writing (e.g. term paper or project reports).
PhD applicants should submit:
- a written statement explaining the purpose of the application;
- a detail research proposal in English (should not exceed 10 single-spaced type-written pages);
- two samples of writing (e.g. a copy of Master's thesis and a representative research paper).
Shortlisted applicants are required to attend interview and take written test.
