The Department of English at CUHK is truly international, with faculty and students from all over the world. We strive to create a lively and dynamic community that enables both students and faculty members to thrive in their intellectual pursuits.
For our undergraduates, we aim to strike a balance between the Applied English Linguistics and English Literary Studies streams, together with the introductory Communications for English Majors courses, to give all our students a rich education in English language and literature alike.
A range of extracurricular activities, such as the Drama Cup and our annual CU Writing volume, as well as an active student society, our summer tour to Oxford University, and careers advice events run by our enthusiastic alumni, further deepen this experience in English.
Our students find employment and/or further study opportunities in many fields (teaching, public service, media etc.) and overseas universities (including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Chicago). We welcome inquiries from any potential undergraduate or postgraduate students.
